Daniel Durán – The Adolphe Sax boss
The ninth episode of the Blowing in the Wind podcast is ready!
Our guest this time is Daniel Durán. He is the founder & CEO of www.adolphesax.com, a sax website that is a referral all over the world.
About Daniel Durán:
Today, we are going to interview Daniel Durán, a saxophonist and teacher who is behind a website generating an impressive traffic of visitors. Adolphesax.com emerged 22 years ago, and through a lot of effort, dedication, and passion, it has become a worldwide reference (without exaggeration), even for non-Spanish-speaking countries.
The website has reached an astonishing 25,000 visitors in a single day while broadcasting the final of the Dinant competition.
How did the website start?
In his own words, he says: “I was in my room looking for classical saxophone albums, and the ‘happy’ idea of creating a website occurred to me. On it, all possible saxophone CDs could be downloaded. Well, with a shade of dubious legality, it was a kind of download page but only for saxophone with an ‘EVERYTHING FREE FOR EVERYONE’ approach. So, I got to work and looked for a domain. After searching and thinking about various names, I finally found that ‘adolphesax.com’ was available. It was a beautiful name, and besides, I have always been passionate about the figure of Adolphe Sax. So, I processed the registration and created a test page while I started developing it. I put a photo of a saxophone and another of Adolphe Sax.
The big turning point came when I opened the website with no content whatsoever (only two photos) and saw hundreds of visits per day. From that moment, I realized that I had to change the ‘purpose’ of the website and do it well and seriously.”
